Word
“Give us today our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:11
Daily Devotional
The next line in the Lord’s Prayer leads us to ask God for provision, both material and spiritual. In Scripture, bread, or “manna,” represents God’s daily provision. Manna was given to the Israelites each morning as they journeyed from Egypt to the Promised Land, providing the physical nourishment they needed for each day.
In the same way, we ask God for our daily bread, trusting Him to supply what we need for our bodies and our lives. Yet our need goes deeper than physical food; Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life, reminding us that just as our bodies require daily sustenance, our souls require daily nourishment as well. That sustenance is found only in Him, the Word made flesh, who alone satisfies.
Scriptures for Today
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
Matthew 6:9-11
“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread…’”
Philippians 4:6-7, 19
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
John 6:35
“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”

Prayer
We will continue to use the Lord’s Prayer as a framework for prayer and intercession today.
Today’s focus is your WORKPLACE.
Pray that you would honor God in your workplace through your conduct, your integrity and the way you serve others. Ask that His Kingdom would come into the culture and decisions made there, and that His will would shape the direction and values of your organization and its leaders. Intercede for coworkers who do not yet know Jesus and that your life would be a witness to them.
Listen & Obey
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:
- Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
- How do You want me to apply this truth today?
- Who do I need to share this with today?
