Day 33 of 40 · Prayer

For Yours Is The Kingdom

Word

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’

Matthew 6:13

Daily Devotional

As we close the Lord’s Prayer, we end with the declaration of worship that the Kingdom, the power, and the glory belong to the Lord, both now and forever. This is the anthem of heaven. It is not just a future reality, but one we step into right now when we come before the Lord in prayer. One day, this will be our constant song alongside believers or the ‘saints’ from every nation, tribe, and tongue (Revelation 7:9–12).

When we spend daily devotional time with God, we are doing more than checking off a spiritual discipline checklist. We are entering into that heavenly reality in the present. We are joining the saints across generations in worship and fellowship with Him. On this side of heaven, we practice this through daily devotion, affection and abiding in Him. What we are building now is a rhythm of daily life with God that we will carry with us into eternity.

Scriptures for Today

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Matthew 6:9-13

“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Revelation 5:11-14

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.” And the four living creatures kept saying, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.

Philippians 2:5-11

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Worship

Prayer

We will continue to use The Lord’s Prayer as a framework for prayer and intercession today.

Today’s focus is the SAINTS.

Pray that God's name would be glorified in the lives of believers around the world. Ask that His Kingdom would come with fresh power in the global Church and that His will would be done in the lives of those who bear witness to His name. Intercede for saints who are suffering, facing persecution or experiencing weariness, that they would be renewed and strengthened in Christ. Pray for unity among believers across denominations and cultures, and ask God to protect His people from deception, division and spiritual attack. Ask that the global Church would rise up in this hour as a powerful witness to His Kingdom come.

Listen & Obey

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:

  • Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
  • How do You want me to apply this truth today?
  • Who do I need to share this with today?
