Day 26 of 40 · Prayer

Your Will Be Done

Word

“Your will be done…”

Matthew 6:10b

Daily Devotional

As Jesus continues to teach us to pray, He leads us to ask that God’s will be done in our lives and in our world. He not only instructs us to pray this way, but He models it for us. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” As we pray these words, we follow in the footsteps of our Savior.

Scriptures for Today

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Matthew 6:9

“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done…’”

1 Samuel 15:22

"Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams."

Matthew 16:24-25

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Matthew 26:39

And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

Worship

I Surrender All to You, Lord

Prayer

We will continue to use the Lord’s Prayer as a framework for prayer and intercession today.

Today’s focus is your FRIENDS.

Pray that God would be glorified in your friendships and that your relationships would point others toward Him. Ask that His Kingdom would come into the lives of your friends, in their families, careers and homes. Intercede for friends who do not know Jesus, that your presence in their lives would stir a deeper hunger for God. Pray your friends would experience His provision, comfort and protection. Ask God to make your friendships a place where grace and truth abounds.

Listen & Obey

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:

  • Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
  • How do You want me to apply this truth today?
  • Who do I need to share this with today?
