Word
“This, then, is how you should pray…”
Matthew 6:9
Daily Devotional
We’re now more than halfway through our 40 Days of Devotion. So far, we’ve laid the groundwork for establishing a daily rhythm of meeting with God, building two foundational elements that enrich our time with Him: worship and the Word. We’ve seen how worship realigns our hearts and how Scripture anchors us in truth—both serving as essential building blocks in cultivating a life-giving, intimate devotional life.
Now, we turn our focus to prayer as our third key building block.
Days 22–33 will center on integrating the spiritual discipline of prayer, using it to deepen intimacy with God, align our hearts and minds with His will personally and then extend our prayers outward in eleven different focused areas.
The disciples of Jesus lived in a culture steeped in prayer. Yet, there was something they saw in the prayer life of Jesus that stood out to them, leading them to ask Him, “Lord, teach us to pray…” and in response, we see Jesus teaching the Lord’s Prayer as a model to follow.
Scriptures for Today
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
Matthew 6:9-13
“This, then, is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’”
Worship

Prayer
For this section of our 40 days, we will use the Lord's Prayer as a framework for our daily prayer and intercession. Each day, we will intercede across twelve focused areas: yourself, your home, your family, your extended family, your friends, your local church, your workplace, your city, your nation, the nations of the earth, the lost and the saints.
Today’s focus is YOURSELF.
Pray that your life would bring glory and honor to God's name in all you do. Ask that His Kingdom would come and His will would be done in your heart, mind and words. Intercede for your own spiritual growth, that you would walk in faith, humility and obedience. Pray for provision, protection and strength, and ask God to forgive you where you have fallen short and to extend that same forgiveness to others. Ask Him to lead you away from all temptation and to deliver you from every scheme of the enemy.
Listen & Obey
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:
- Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
- How do You want me to apply this truth today?
- Who do I need to share this with today?
