Word
“...He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.”
John 10:3b-4
Daily Devotional
It's comforting to know we have a God who desires to speak to us, and Scripture is clear that all believers can hear His voice (John 10:3b, 4, 27). But how can we know what we're hearing is from God? A few questions to consider as we listen for Him: Does what I'm hearing line up with Scripture? Does what I'm hearing bear the fruit of the Spirit? The voice of God will never contradict Scripture, nor will it be condemning or cause chaos, but will bring clarity and peace.
Scriptures for Today
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
John 10:3b-4, 27
“...He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
Listen & Obey
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:
- Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
- How do You want me to apply this truth today?
- Who do I need to share this with today?
