Day 18 of 40 · The Word

Good Soil

Word

“But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.”

Luke 8:15

Daily Devotional

Luke 8:15 uses the metaphor of seeds planted in good soil that produce fruit over time. This Scripture helps us understand that when we receive God’s Word with an honest and open heart, holding fast to what is true, it produces fruit in us as we abide in Christ and persevere. It reminds us that our heart posture matters as we read and meditate on the Word of God. As we keep a pure heart before Him, His Word bears lasting fruit in our lives.

Scriptures for Today

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Luke 8:15

“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”

Colossians 1:6

“In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.”

Galatians 5:22-23

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
